Bristol City Council

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Bristol
Contract type: Full time
Full Time, Fixed Term until March 2027.

Location: Based at 100 Temple Street, Bristol and working from home

Bristol City Council has been successful in attaining funding through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) to help improve our neighbourhoods and transport corridors and to encourage more people to travel by sustainable modes. We now have an opportunity within the Engagement and Active Travel Team.

The purpose of this role is to encourage behaviour change by promoting the benefits of sustainable travel modes within the community. The person will build up a rapport with key stakeholders spreading the message of sustainable travel & road safety and advocating the associated health benefits whilst helping to reduce vehicle journeys.

You will be required to take the lead on public engagement for sustainable transport projects across the city, such as liveable neighbourhoods. This involves working in small project teams, coordinating with consultation and communication teams, organising and presenting at public events, and promoting travel offers.

Part of the role is funded through a research grant, and there is a requirement to represent the council on the project. This involves working on and organising a citizen observatory to invite individuals to monitor a transport project via citizen science.

There will be a need to work with community partners to help deliver information, advice and range of travel offers. This will include arranging a programme of in-person and online events, such as travel roadshows, dr bikes and personalised travel planning. There will also be a requirement to promote our digital platforms and community travel grants.

You would need to demonstrate experience of behaviour change projects, be motivated and enthusiastic, educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience in partnership working.

You must have excellent written and verbal communications, the ability to motivate and enthuse others, be able to develop and maintain external relationships and use your organisational skills to plan and prioritise your own workload.
