The Opportunity

This is a high impact role and key to the broader success of the business As Packaging Technologist you will manage the introduction of new packaging for use in manufactured products or amended packaging due to design change. The focus will be on several of our brands for which you will be personally responsible. You will work closely with the factory when trials are needed and with marketing and commercial teams on in introduction of exciting New Product Development and introduction: Activities will include:

  • Lead the E2E process of packaging and artwork, working closely with the internal and external stakeholders including suppliers to deliver innovations and renovations OTIF.
  • Set up BOM and pallet configuration. Support operations team for first productions.
  • Manage numerous projects and initiatives simultaneously ensuring timelines are met
  • Support the agreed critical path and ensure the timelines are met and
  • Attend Press Passes on behalf of Glanbia and the customer to approve the print when required.
  • Confirm packaging component sizes, colours, materials, cutter guides and other key requirements with customers and brief these accordingly
  • Monitoring of packaging to save costs and weight reduction opportunities through appropriate management of trials and implementation
  • Seek out and review new packaging concepts/developments to present to the business
  • Help Drive our sustainability agenda by ensuring new and current products are reviewed and improved.
  • Build productive supplier relationships and use this introduce supplier led innovation to the business
  • Other packaging related activities as requested
  • Provide support across the packaging team during holidays and leave of absence

The skills you will bring to the team

  • At least three years’ experience in FMCG, managing complex projects delivered against challenging timelines, leading to successful Launches
  • Experience in artwork management tools.
  • Strong understanding of print processes with the ability to translate this into language that non-technical functions can understand
  • Excellent skills in all MS Office programmes (e.g., excel, PowerPoint), working knowledge of SAP and strong numerical skills
  • Proven experience in packaging supply and design
  • An individual with diligence with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where priority decision must be made
  • Ability to work independently, but also willing to seek guidance and take direction from line manager on bigger or riskier decisions
  • A strong collaborator who is tenacious with the skill to engage well with others
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Solutions focused – always seeking better ways
