Bristol City Council Fostering Service are looking for a Family Support worker to join our Fostering Teams.
You will undertake a variety of tasks and direct work to support foster families and children with a range of personal, emotional, practical and complex social issues.
Our aspiration is to ensure good outcomes for children and young people who are being cared for by foster carers by providing them with a high level of support when they need it.
With your help we aim to have a responsive service which meets the needs of this diverse group of children and their foster carers. This role will give you the opportunity to undertake innovative work and help develop the service by working closely with our existing experienced teams who are as passionate about the work, as we hope you will be.

- Are experienced in working directly with children and families.
- Confident in ICT
- Good communication skills and an understanding of child development and attachment.
- Have energy and passion for supporting foster carers and children
- Are solution focused and not afraid of new challenges.
- Have the interpersonal skills and warmth to build authentic and respectful relationships.
- Able to manage competing caseload demands and have a strong and genuine commitment to championing the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
- Can share their own learning and inspire learning in others.
- Understand the importance of accountability and are able to evidence the impact of their work.
- Enjoy responsibility and challenge and have high standards for all.
- Enjoy having fun and thinking anything is possible.
- The post may involve some evening and weekend work depending on service needs.
