The Post
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking nurse to join our team at the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS). The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the health of donors and patients, contributing to the smooth operation of Apheresis, whole blood, and blood component sessions. The role involves venepuncture and medical selection duties, requiring flexibility to travel to multiple locations and work variable hours.
The Candidate
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the management and smooth running of blood donation sessions.
Ensure donors feel welcome, comfortable, and valued.
Undertake venepuncture and medical selection duties.
Maintain the highest standards of patient care.
Engage actively in training and quality assurance initiatives.
Requirements
Current NMC registration at the time of application.
Willingness to travel to multiple locations.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Active interest in training and quality assurance.
Flexibility to work variable hours, including Sundays and late evenings.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
This post will be based in Glasgow Blood Donor Centre.
The successful candidate will be required to travel as part of the role to locations across Glasgow and West of Scotland.
The work pattern for this post is Monday to Sunday, 28 hours per week. The hours are variable and include Sundays and regular late evenings.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
