Responsibilities
- Providing expert legal advice and representation in public childcare matters, including child protection cases, care orders, and adoption proceedings.
- Conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and preparing cases for court hearings.
- Building strong relationships with clients, including children, parents, and local authorities, and maintaining effective communication throughout the legal process.
- Attending court hearings and advocating on behalf of clients, presenting compelling arguments and providing reassurance and support.
- Collaborating with other professionals, such as social workers, medical experts, and educational staff, to ensure the best interests of children are upheld.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in legislation, case law, and best practise in the field of child protection.
- Qualified solicitor or with a minimum of 3 years' experience in public childcare law.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002.
- Proven experience in handling complex and sensitive cases involving child protection and welfare issues.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of empathy, compassion, and sensitivity towards clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional ethics.
- Ability to manage a challenging caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous professional development in the field of child protection law is highly desirable.
