The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join our team on a hybrid-working basis, covering the LEUK sites with project being led out of Luton. In this role you will play a pivotal role in our Logistics operations team to design, develop, implement, deliver and support the operations logistics solution.
The role on offer is supporting the Future Combat Air Line of Business, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for ensuring material process compliance by providing leadership to logistics personnel & defined service level adherence. Working within the management team, the position also contributes to the development & implementation of strategies, policies & practices. The role interfaces across multiple functions & lines of business & is accountable for inventory relating to GCAP & FCAS.

What You Will Do As a Logistics Manager
- Manage & execute the logistic solutions through Design, Development, Production & In-service phases
- Strategy and Plan creator for logistics (movement) of products between Supply Chain and LEDUK, intra LEDUK site, delivery to and from UK / International Customers and Partners at a range of security classifications
- Creation of Logistic Facilities requirements in conjunction with Facilities team, considering range of security classifications to support above movement logistics
- Experience of Stakeholder engagement with a UK wide LED UK team and with security accrediting bodies
- Through life approach to logistics, during NPI defining & influencing key product KPI such as business winning (bid) budgets.
- Providing specialist input including the application of specialist skills and knowledge into a project team, to help ensure the delivery of a technically sound solution meeting all stakeholder requirements
- Engage with external sources for tracking external developments and disruptive technologies to identify exploitation and knowledge sharing within the project team
- Advising and participating on improving policies and processes within the operations framework
- Create a culture which improves logistics efficiency by generating innovative ideas and solutions to address areas such as capacity analysis, simulation planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Review logistics documentation and provide input as required.
- Creation of GCAP Logistics process set.
- Promoting a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation
- Mentor, coach and develop more junior members of the team in order to develop overall capability
- Providing domain experience in support of customer and user engagement and product road maps
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with internal and external governance / legislative requirements

- Excellent Business and Product knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of drive and commitment
- Experience in implementation & design of KPI’s
- Ability to manage teams and delegate tasks
- Stakeholder - negotiating and influencing skills
- Good all-round computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications
- Accreditation from a recognised Logistics awarding body
- CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport)
- Armed Forces acquired accreditations
- Customer relationship experience
- Leadership experience including. coaching and performance management
- Experience of strategising, solutioning and implementing logistics solutions
- Experience of working across multiple security classifications and across international boundaries
- Ability to travel in line with business needs
- Desirable SAP and process knowledge
- Experience within Defence, Aerospace & Automotive sectors
- Knowledge / Experience in Supply chain
- People & Customer relationship skills
- Life cycle management (LCM) knowledge from Design / development through to Production & aftermarket support
- Lean & continuous improvement techniques knowledge
- Proven track record in delivering Logistics solutions within high value, complex manufacturing programmes within a dynamic environment
- Demonstrable Logistics experience covering all product lifecycle phases with an extensive experience in designing developing, implementing & delivering Logistics solutions
