The Team

An exciting opportunity to join our ambitious and friendly team based in Dummer, just outside Basingstoke.

Role Summary

We value our employees and as such we have an onsite canteen at our office in Dummer. This is a hands-on role to run the office canteen. Service starts in the morning with free croissants for our employees as they start work in the morning, with coffees and lunches served throughout the day to the mid- afternoon.

Traditionally our menus have been simple, but tasty, based on such staples as salads, sandwiches, freshly made soup and a weekly special. You will choose ingredients and design a menu to include good use of seasonal food items, creating delicious dishes that inspire our colleagues to come back again and again to see what’s new in the canteen.

The role includes all aspects of delivering a welcome, tasty and good-looking plate of food including preparation, cooking, reheating, assembling and serving. The taking & processing of food orders whilst maintaining a clean and safe canteen space, both front of house and behind the scenes, keeping the customer at the forefront of your day.

This will include, but is not limited to, responsibility for kitchen and storeroom hygiene and cleaning. You will be expected to enhance our food hygiene rating from 3 stars back to 5 stars and then maintain these standards daily.

Tasks

  • Receive & Prepare customers’ orders according to their preferences.
  • Cater for Boardroom lunches and meetings.
  • Run efficient systems to enable pre ordering and on time delivery of pre ordered meals
  • Ensure the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines
  • Being responsible for canteen & kitchen health and safety
  • Being responsible for food hygiene practices, championing high standards
  • Experiment to come up with new specialties that will draw staff into the canteen
  • Determine how much food to order, maintain an appropriate and consistent supply at the canteen, including compliant stock control methods

  • Friendly demeanour and an ability to learn people’s names to provide a personalized service
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure

  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high standards of customer service & consistent quality
