Role Overview
We are seeking a talented 3D Animator with 1-2 years of experience to join our animation team. The ideal candidate is someone who brings characters to life with a blend of creativity, technical skill, and attention to detail. Working in our Edinburgh office, you’ll be at the heart of a collaborative environment focused on producing animations that align with HOPE’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement 3D character animations using Maya, from initial concepts to final presentations.
- Develop storyboards and block animations to outline project needs.
- Produce expressive animations that bring personality to characters.
- Ensure final products align with project objectives and deliver within deadlines.
- Maintain and organise files, asset libraries, and document processes.
- Collaborate with the animation team to refine techniques and share creative insights.
- Be able to prepare the animation for either engine or video formats.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or certification in Animation or related field preferred (or a strong portfolio of relevant work).
- Proficiency in Maya and strong understanding of animation fundamentals, storytelling, and character development.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt and respond to feedback constructively.
- How to baking and exporting animations into FBX.
- Should have a basic understanding of rendering with Maya Arnold.
- Understanding of anatomy, limb movement, and the effects of weight on animated characters.
- Familiarity with lighting, shadows, and textures.
- Able to work independently or within a team to troubleshoot and develop animations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative work.
- Advanced knowledge of rendering using Maya Arnold or any other engines ( RenderMan)
- Be able to Rig in Maya
- Compositing
- Experience with Unity is a plus.
